The Rancho Bernardo High School PTSA offers Scholarships to Graduating High School Seniors in order to acknowledge their achievements of volunteer service in the school and community.

AVAILABILITY
RBHS PTSA scholarship funds are available to high school seniors graduating in June of the current academic year. The scholarship award is to be used during fall semester/quarter following high school graduation at an accredited college or university, community college, or trade/technical school.

QUALIFICATIONS
This scholarship recognizes volunteer service in the school and community, and does not have a grade point average restriction or requirement.

1. The student must be a member of the RBHS PTSA for the current school year. If not already a member, please click this LINK to join.

2. The student must be graduating from RBHS for the current school year.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Seniors:  don't delay! Prepare all the required paperwork as soon as possible.  You are advised to contact the faculty or community members from whom you are requesting referrals sooner rather than later, to give them ample time to fill the forms out, write the letters, and send them to PTSA electronically.  PTSA cannot accept forms and letters that come directly from students. Faculty and community members can electronically send the requested documents to PTSA anytime, and the timing does not have to coincide with your application submission, as long as it is before the end of the school day on the deadline date specified below.
 

• A three-page, double-spaced essay (max file size: 1Mb) which you will upload as part of the online application, describing the following: 

  • Any PTSA responsibility you may have had during high school.

  • Your career plans, goals, objective, and any other information you feel would be valuable to the selection committee.

  • All school service-related activities including any service you have provided to others in your school. 

  • Your volunteer service in the community.

• Two reference forms and two letters of reference submitted electronically directly to us.  The forms can be downloaded from HERE. Please share the link to the forms with the faculty member(s) and/or community member(s) who will write them for you. You may also print them out, and hand the forms to them to fill out, but they must scan and send them to PTSA electronically. PTSA will accept the documents anytime up until the deadline specified below. Have them email both the completed form and letter to rbhsptsascholarship@gmail.com. 

  • ​Each reference must be a RBHS faculty member or a community volunteer leader with whom the student applicant has served. Neither reference can be related to the student.

  • The accompanying letter must be written specifically for this scholarship application.

  • Copies of recommendation letters for college admission are not acceptable.  ​

The electronic application 'packet' consists of the following and must all be received by PTSA by the end of the school day on the deadline date:

• Your essay as outlined above, to be uploaded as part of the online application.

• Two forms of reference and two letters of recommendation as described above to be electronically emailed directly by the faculty/community members to rbhsptsascholarship@gmail.com.

• The online application (Google form) electronically signed and submitted.

All applicants will be notified of their standing by May 30th or before the Senior Awards Night, whichever comes first. A check for the scholarship will be sent directly to the recipient and will be made payable to the student and the college, university, or trade/technical school at which the student will be enrolled in the Fall.
